The Colorado Chapter and the Iracambi Research Center in Minas Gerais, Brazil, share a long history of partnership and cooperation.

Dayana Duarte, Iracambi’s Social and Environment Coordinator, visited Colorado in March of 2026. During her visit had a full agenda in Denver and Greeley, Colorado. Then, visited Grand Junction, Colorado, and some national parks in Utah.

Binka Le Breton, Iracambi’s International Relations Officer, came to the Colorado Partners of the Americas Anniversary Celebration in September 2025 and visited the University of Northern Colorado in 2024 from Brazil to talk about Iracambi and the Chapter’s work in Minas Gerais.

In July 2024, Dr. Karen Barton, Ph.D., M.A., a distinguished member of the Colorado Chapter and a Geography and GIS Professor at the University of Northern Colorado, had the unique opportunity to visit the Iracambi Research Center on a Professional Travel Grant sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Partners of the Americas, and the Colorado Chapter. This visit was designed to foster collaboration and exchange knowledge with Brazil's leading environmental research institutions.

The Iracambi Research Center is renowned for its work in biodiversity conservation and sustainable development, making it an ideal partner for advancing shared goals in environmental stewardship and community engagement. This experience underscores the Chapter's commitment to supporting global initiatives that address critical environmental challenges.
